“I Feel Like Me Again” – Wendy’s Wig Story with Debbie at The Classic Hair Company

I have been looking after clients in Tilbury for more than forty years. I have seen how hair can lift a person, and I have seen how hair loss can weigh on them.

I am Trevor Sorbie approved, and I run our wig service with the same care I give to every cut and colour. Today I want to tell you Wendy’s story, with her full blessing to share.

Wendy has visited our salon for decades. Over time her hair became finer, especially through the top and fringe. She laughed it off in the mirror, as many of us do, but it was starting to knock her confidence. She still dressed beautifully. She still met friends. Yet she was planning life around a hairstyle that no longer felt like her.

One afternoon I saw Wendy pause by our wig display. She had walked past it a hundred times. This time she stopped. I went over and said, shall we try a few on, just us, no pressure. She gave a small nod and said yes.

We moved to our private fitting area. It is calm and away from the bustle of the salon. I asked about her week, her plans, and what she loved about her hair when it felt at its best. We looked at photos. We talked about colour, cap comfort, and length. I ordered a small selection that I knew would suit her. There is never any obligation to buy. My goal is simple, give space, comfort, and choice.

When the delivery arrived we tried the first style. It looked nice, but it did not feel like Wendy. That is normal. The second had the right shape but needed a little work. I did a gentle cut and softened the fringe. I showed her how the fibre moves. I tucked the ends under her collar. She looked up and said, that feels more like me. We both smiled.

By the third try on she began to relax. She could see herself again. The colours were blended and natural. The cap felt secure and comfortable. She moved her head from side to side and the hair moved with her. We went through aftercare. I showed her how to put it on and take it off. How to brush it. How to store it so it keeps its shape. She practised until it felt easy.

In the end Wendy chose two looks. One is soft and natural for every day. It sits neatly and saves time in the morning. The other has a little more polish for dinners and special plans. I cut and finished both so they frame her face and skim her jawline. When she stood up to leave, she stood a little taller. That is the moment I love most.

A few weeks later Wendy came back for a tidy up and a cuppa. She said she had been out more. She felt happy in photos again. People kept telling her how lovely her hair looked. Only a few close friends knew it was a wig. The rest just saw Wendy being Wendy.

Here are Wendy’s own words.

“I feel like me again. Debbie made the whole experience so easy and kind. I have two styles I love, one for every day and one for going out. Friends keep complimenting my hair. I wish I had done this sooner.”

This is why I am so passionate about our wig service in Tilbury, Essex. Wigs are not one size fits all. The cap must fit well. The colour should flatter your skin. The finish needs careful cutting by someone who understands shape and movement. Most of all, you need time. Time to talk. Time to breathe. Time to choose without feeling rushed.

When you visit The Classic Hair Company, this is what I promise.

I will welcome you to a private, comfortable space.
I will listen to what matters to you.
I will select styles that suit, not overwhelm.
I will cut and finesse the hair so it looks natural.
I will teach simple care so your wig stays beautiful.
I will be here whenever you need aftercare or a refresh.

If you feel curious but nervous, that is completely normal. Many clients start with a conversation. Bring a friend if you like. Bring photos of you at your favourite moment. We will talk through budget and timing. We will look at colours and shapes. You are free to walk away and think. You are also free to say yes when it feels right.

Wendy now books lunches without worrying about the wind. She enjoys getting ready for a night out. She has her ease back. That is the real joy of a well chosen wig. It gives back time and confidence.

If Wendy’s story speaks to you, I would love to help. Book a private consultation with me. There is free parking near the salon and we will make you a good cup of tea. You will never be rushed. You will always be treated with kindness.
